The level design is top notch and there are many secrets to find and unlock.This file contains additional information such as Exif metadata which may have been added by the digital camera, scanner, or software program used to create or digitize it.
The graphical effects are really well done, the action is frantic and fast paced. It captures everything I loved about the glory days of the 90’s shooter genre and adds some modern touches. One of the best modern “retro” shooters I’ve ever played. Even though it may feel easy to find them all I still end up knowing there are more when I reach the level recap, and I imagine if I replay later it will be nice to replay the levels.
Some are foreshadowed behind glass or bars or the distance and you can figure out how to get them by the end of the level. Some are just from being diligent to look in various spots. I appreciate that secrets aren’t super obtuse to find. And I really appreciate the voluptuous display of gore, you can wallpaper whole rooms with the liquids of your opponents. Metal soundtrack enriches the atmosphere. Weapon feedback and headshots feel crisp, the variety of enemy combinations keeps up the challenge. Excellent level design with sufficient verticality and secrets upgradable abilities in form of a dash and double jump expand the flexibility. Both of them greatly appeal to my competitive nature, and I spent hours improving my skills on each map until I made the top ten in most of them. Blow up your friends and foes in multiplayer or participate in the race for the top spot on the international leaderboards. That being said, half of the real ColecoVision experience is playing these games with those original bastard joysticks from hell and not having them readily available in USB form takes away from it you’re looking for authenticity in every facet of this. Absolutely love Pepper II, as far as I’m concerned that’s a maze game that totally kills Pac-Man in concept, scale, and fun factor. Want more?
